We hope you're all soaking up the beautiful Colorado summer! With the sun shining bright, camping and hiking in full swing, an abundance of local produce and the smell of grilled delights wafting through the air, it's the perfect time to enjoy this wonderful state. While everyone is making the most of these sunny days, our team has been busy too—making incredible strides and having a productive summer filled with impactful work. Let’s dive into the exciting events we have lined up for you!

We are thrilled to share some exciting updates and upcoming events with our community! First on the agenda is our Ferment & Film: An Evening with Sandor Katz, Mara King, and Slow Food Denver event on August 1st. This evening promises a delightful mix of education and entertainment as we delve into the art of fermentation, accompanied by a selection of thought-provoking short films, a market of local businesses and nonprofits, and a Q&A with Mara King and Sandor Katzer. Join us at the MCA Holiday Theater from 5:30 to 8:30 PM for an unforgettable experience.

Just a couple of days later, on August 3rd, we will be hosting a FED Workshop - How to: Gardening for Food Security and the Planet. This workshop is an excellent opportunity for those interested in sustainable gardening practices and enhancing food security within our community. The workshop will be held at a local church garden from 8 to 11 AM and is entirely pay what you can. Make sure to register early, as spots are limited!

Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating our largest fundraiser of the year – the Slow Food Farm Dinner. This special evening will feature a gourmet meal prepared by the talented Chef Matt Vawter, using ingredients sourced from the beautiful MASA Farm where we will dine with a stunning view of the farm and flatirons. The dinner will take place on September 7th, and tickets have sold quickly. Don’t miss out on this chance to enjoy an exquisite evening while supporting our cause.

In addition to attending our events, there are numerous ways to get involved and support our efforts. We are seeking volunteers for various roles, including helping with the setup, serving, and cleanup at our Slow Food Farm Dinner. We also have opportunities to assist at local farms with planting, harvesting, and other essential tasks. For those who enjoy working with students, we offer volunteer positions in classrooms to support our educational programs in fewer numbers throughout the summer, but the program is still in need of volunteer support. If you’re interested in volunteering, please sign up on our website or contact us directly for more information.

We’d also like to remind you all of the special promotion on our Snail Trail Passports. For a limited time, you can buy one and get one free! This is a fantastic opportunity to explore our local food scene and support sustainable practices, and it will expire soon as we offer our new passports starting on September 7th. Additionally, we have brand new totes available for purchase. These stylish and practical totes are perfect for carrying your farmers' market finds and showing your support for our nonprofit.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and volunteer opportunities!
