FED Workshops
Following a fantastic debut year, we’re thrilled to continue our journey with the Food Ethos Denver (FED) Workshops. This semi-monthly series of hands-on, thought-provoking classes has already brought together both passionate food enthusiasts and novice home cooks to learn and grow together, and we're excited to build on that success.
From panel discussions to how-to workshops on cooking, fermenting, and foraging, our workshops offer fresh opportunities to learn, connect, and grow.
Join us as we continue to explore food, sustainability, and community in Denver—together working towards a more educated, mindful, and resilient future.

Workshops
As detailed above, the FED Workshops bring semi-monthly adult education programming to the Denver public with a focus on food and beverage. Our overarching goal is to cultivate conscious consumers and active participants in the local food system. We invite attendees to learn with us in the form of how-to classes, panel discussions, seminars, and more. We aim to guide the Denver community on the path to become educated consumers of local products, as well as those less local. And hopefully, we will empower folks to produce things themselves.
What are the FED Workshops?

In the first year, we took attendees to local farms, retailers, and parks to learn about foraging, fermenting, cooking while camping, Guatemalan coffee, Colorado wine, butchering, and so much more. We collaborated with 28 non-profits and local businesses to make this program a true community effort that supports more than just the work of Slow Food Denver. In 2024, we hosted 9 workshops and 249 attendees, 109 of which were pay-what-you-can tickets.
What was the 2024 Impact?

In 2024, we secured funding from the Sprouts Foundation that allows us to offer a limited amount of pay-what-you-can tickets through our FED Workshops. We aim to have a handful of these accessible tickets available for each class, so look for the option when purchasing your spot. This offering will run on an honor system. Please use this option if it helps make these skill and information based sessions more accessible to you.
Starting in 2025, Slow Food Denver received a donation for a scholarship fund from Orvin & Donna Baker-Breningstall in honor and memory of their daughter Sunia. This annual gift will allow Slow Food Denver to continue to grow and develop programming in Seed to Plate and our Food Ethos Denver (FED) workshops to expand offerings to children and adults of all abilities. Sunia's legacy will live on through the Sunny Bug Farmette Fund that will provide classes to children with developmental differences in classrooms and by providing more inclusive services and opportunities through the FED program for adults of all abilities.
