About the event
Gather with Grow Local Colorado and Slow Food Denver for a hands-on workshop to learn what it takes to create, care for, and harvest a garden that feeds communities experiencing food insecurity while caring for the planet.
The morning will begin in the garden where the Grow Local team will teach about gardening skills, in addition to edcuating about food insecurity in the Denver Metro area. GLC will explain their strategies for targeting this problem, and prioritizing the planet at the same time.
After time in the garden together, we’ll come to the table for a demonstration of a dish that Slow Food Denver makes in their Seed to Plate classes. The dish will feature Palisade peaches and your own creativity.
Slow Food Denver provided over 8906 meals to children throughout the Denver metro area in 2023, in particular in Title 1 schools. In every class, children create their own dish and enjoy a meal that prioritizes garden fresh deliciousness. At this workshop, you’ll come to understand how this process empowers children, while dining on your own unique summer-fresh brunch dish.
Enjoy this garden & brunch as Grow Local Colorado and Slow Food Denver come together to showcase the importance of bringing whole, real food to our community for the health of the planet and for people.
