Leadership
Krista Roberts, President
Krista has been actively involved in Slow Food Denver since 2007, after moving back to Denver from the UK. She spends much of her time focused on Slow Food efforts; working closely with the Seed-to-Table school garden program, farm-to-cafeteria initiatives, planning Slow Food educational events and running the office. Krista also teaches cooking classes and volunteers as a chef for Operation Frontline.
Prior to embarking upon a food-focused career, she spent 10 years as a corporate business consultant with Accenture followed by two years as Director of Executive Development Programs at Durham University in England. She lives in Denver with her husband, David. They are both eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child later this year!
Annette D’Amico, Secretary and Membership Coordinator
Although Annette is late to the Slow Food movement (2006), she is a true believer in its vision and mission. She has 30 years of work experience as a manager of governmental programs, responsible for administrative systems, governmental regulation and policy development, development/implementation of IT systems, and technical writing/editing.
In keeping with this, her leadership role in Slow Food Denver is to help plan and implement a more efficient and effective operational infrastructure to support Slow Food Denver activities. This includes improving dependable communications with members of the Slow Food community, working on website design and implementation, instituting methods of tracking new and expiring memberships, developing forms and letters, and helping plan nd achieve Chapter goals.
Gigia Kolouch, Seed to Table Program Director
With almost twenty years of experience in teaching and the culinary profession, Gigia is first and foremost an advocate for home cooking and the celebration of local food culture. She has owned her own business for 15 years while developing classes, writing recipes and teaching students of all ages. Over the years, she has taught at the Kitchen on the Green, the Culinary School of the Rockies, the Seasoned Chef, the Starkey Institute, and has directed the Alfalfa’s Market Cooking School.
As the Slow Food Denver Seed-to-Table program director, she works with elementary aged Denver students in gardening and cooking classes. She has also been a volunteer with Operation Frontline and other civic groups. She is currently a graduate student in Nutritional Anthropology, interested in the cultural knowledge embedded in every day living.
Marilyn Noble, Volunteer Coordinator
Marilyn was first introduced to the concept of Slow Food over a four-hour, nine-course dinner with Italian cousins in a small town outside of Venice. One of them turned to her and said, “This is how eating should be…slooow. Slow Food – it’s what we do here in Italy.” Not only does Marilyn embrace the idea of a long enjoyable meal with good friends and family, she is also passionate about the concept of good, clean, and fair food for everyone. She is a freelance writer and magazine editor as well as the author of three cookbooks, Citrus Essentials (2006), Viva Chocolate (2007), and Slow Cooking: Savory Secrets & Western Flavors (Fall, 2009).
She brings her background and skills as a volunteer coordinator to Slow Food Denver, where she will be recruiting, organizing, and acting as the liaison between the program chairs and volunteers. She believes that volunteers are the lifeblood of any non-profit organization and is looking forward to meeting our members and making their volunteer experiences meaningful and fun.
Erin Overturf, Community Outreach and Policy Coordinator
