Seed-to-Table Program
Slow Food Denver's Seed-to-Table
Coalition supports school gardens and cooking
classes in the metro Denver area. We empower
children to become enthusiastic supporters of Good,
Clean and Fair food.
We currently work with
approximately 15 schools in the greater Denver area
to help establish, grow and maintain school gardens
programs. The goal of the Seed-to-Table program is
to teach students about growing fresh fruits and
vegetables so they gain an understanding of the
agricultural cycle from seed-to-table and an
appreciation of the taste and quality of food that
is raised responsibly and with care. The group also
works to promote Farm-to-School initiatives and to
expand the lessons from the gardens into the
lunchroom.
We have regular meetings to
discuss Seed-to-Table topics, hold related workshops
and support the work of all participants.
