Meet The Team

Stephanie Krause

I am a Slow Food Denver board member because I’m motivated to improve the food system by supporting local farmers and ranchers, teaching people – adults and kids alike – the importance of healthy food, and bringing back indigenous growing practices and endangered seeds.

My passion for food started when I was a child with a dad who always had a garden full of tomatoes, green beans, and root veggies and a mom who knew the importance of home-cooked meals eaten at the table together as a family. Shortly after moving to Colorado in 2000, I discovered Slow Food Denver through a school garden project. I loved the idea of kids learning about gardening at a young age, as I did.

I have stayed involved with Slow Food ever since by volunteering at local events and projects, “interning” for Slow Food USA on an international school garden pen pal program, and coordinating the pop-up bookshop for Slow Food Nations. Every step has connected me with like-minded people, broadened my knowledge about growing food, and fueled me to fight for food access for all.
